Fred
: I agree, he’s great.
Jenny
: And we just found out we’re neighbors, so we’ve been carpooling to work.
Fred
: That’s awesome and it’s also good for the environment.
Jenny
: Totally. And we’re saving some cash too.
Fred
: Hey, I only live three blocks away from you. We could all carpool together.
Jenny
: What a perfect idea!

To get along
To have a harmonious relationship with someone.

They used to fight a lot, but now they’re getting along.

Do you get along with your neighbors?

To find out
This phrasal verb means the same as “discover”.

She found out he was lying.

I always find out what’s wrong. 

Useful words and expressions

Carpool

To travel together in someone’s car.

They live close to each other so they are carpooling to work.

The traffic is so intense! People should carpool!

Environment

The natural world: trees, atmosphere, animals. This is generally affected by human activity.

We need to take care of the environment.

Global warming is affecting the environment.

To save

This verb can be used in 2 different ways. It can either mean “rescue” or “keep for the future”.

It is wise to save some money.

He saw that poor dog and saved it.

It takes

This is the expression used to communicate the amount of time someone needs so that they can finish doing something or accomplishing something.

It takes me 20 minutes to get home by car.

It took me 5 hours to clean the house.
